Meet Mark Straw, our resident CrossFit sage who has been defying gravity and expectations since 2011. While most coaches were still figuring out how to tie their shoes, Mark was busy mastering muscle-ups and leaving a trail of chalk dust in his wake. Oh, and did we mention he's an ex Royal Marine? Talk about bringing some serious discipline and determination to the gym!
Mark is no stranger to competition. With a third-place finish at The Battle of Britain in 2015, he’s proven that age is just a number—and his happens to be unlisted. Whether he's lifting barbells or your spirits, Mark's experience shines through, making him a force to be reckoned with and a mentor to many.
But Mark’s true passion lies in guiding older athletes on their fitness journeys. He’s living proof that you can still kick butt and take names, regardless of how many candles are on your birthday cake. Mark’s approach is all about smart training, injury prevention, and showing that you can always learn new tricks—even if you're not a young pup anymore.
With a blend of wisdom, wit, and a touch of grey, Mark Straw is the coach who will help you unleash your inner beast, one WOD at a time. Come for the workout, stay for the dad jokes—Mark’s got plenty of both!

Meet Coach Danny Watts – CrossFit Scunthorpe’s new dad, sneaker geek, resident CrossFit Gazelle, and die-hard Chelsea FC fan and ardent season ticket holder at Scunthorpe Utd. Danny’s days are a whirlwind of dad duty, deadlifts, and the latest Metcons. His sneaker collection? Impressive enough to fill its own CrossFit box!
Balancing his roles as a dad and a coach, Danny brings energy and humour to every workout. With a CrossFit Level 1 Trainer certification, he ensures members get top-notch guidance while having a blast. His passion for running has earned him the nickname "CrossFit Gazelle," and he's always ready to help you improve your stride.
Outside the gym, Danny’s love for football is matched only by his dedication to his family. Expect a bit of footie talk and a lot of laughs in his sessions.
